IT'S TIME TO SELL YAHOO

If it wasn't for yahoo, I wouldn't be where I am today. Both financially and otherwise. Yahoo was the first stock I bought online. I sold it 3 weeks later for 100% profit. The next 10 months didn't go well as I shorted QCOM in it's heyday. I never lost my seed money or the first yahoo profit,

But now it's time to sell. The news headlines it chooses to lead with is so anti Israel. I'm embarrassed to even own the stock. Here are some recent headlines and what really happened (as reported in the article)

Yahoo Headline: Religious vigilantes nab Israeli-Palestinian girl
First sentence: An Israeli mother desperate to retrieve her daughter from her Palestinian husband has enlisted an ultra-Orthodox group which orchestrated a vigilante-style raid to recover the child. It goes on to say Palestinian wife with whom he had five children.

Yahoo Headline: Two Palestinian teenagers killed in Gaza
attack against two Palestinians whom she said came to collect rocket launchers in the northern Gaza Strip, from where five rockets were launched towards Israel during the week. Hamas uses teenagers to collect and launch the rockets.
Why didn't the Headline read: Hamas uses children to launch rockets on Israel.

It's time to sell Yahoo. I have to wait until 2007 because we will be hit with high taxes.

FSBO

Been a while since I wrote. We've put our apartment on the market 2 weeks ago. It's a For Sale By Owner (FSBO). We've had people coming to look (even a few time), but no offers yet. My hunch is that people looking at places are really not savvy. Only a few realized they can offer much less since they are not using a broker. Hello - brokers charge 6% - you do the math. My father-in-law was here for the weekend. Paulo took him to see the house we bought. He loved the property, but thought we should knock down the house and detached garage. Since Paul listens to him, I'm not going to lobby for keeping the garage. However, if we build something - I want the garage detached from the house. Not sure why. I just do.

myHR and Outsourcing Really Sucks.

Dear Omnicom ghost of what used to be an HR department.
I need to do a change of address.
I am no longer in the My HR system with the user ID I’ve been using. Even when I go around the user ID thing – I’m not in the system. There seems to be a BIG glitch.
I’m also thinking about canceling my Direct Deposit because the myHR thing really doesn’t work for me.
Please let me know if I’m still in the system, been laid off, or if myHR and the company’s HR department just sucks.
Thank you for wasting an hour of my time today. I'm happy to bill all my aggravation to admin instead of a client.

IT'S OK TO HAVE A C-SECTION

Enough is enough.
A coworker just had a baby. I saw his wife last month and said she was ready and would probably delivery early. When she went past her due date, I told him to schedule a c-section. If she went into labor before the scheduled c-section great. If not at least they will know when the baby would be born.

He didn't listen. They wanted natural at all costs. I told him that very few babies born from induced labor drugs are actually delivered naturally - THEY END UP C-section anyway - AFTER many hours of painful labor. Why put women through that. Our goal should be the easiest and healthiest labor for the woman. Not a stupid doctor or hospital who needs to have his or her c-section rates lowered. If we focused on the woman - we would lower the c-section rate without the pain and suffering of pregant woman.

Doctors should do what midwifes do. The whole woman experience. IT IS OK TO HAVE A C-SECTION. IT IS OK NOT TO BREASTFEED. We must have these two new mantras in our BIRTHING CLASSES. Woman of means know this. Woman who are uninformed always end up with a bad experience.

The lesson. You are no hero if you insist on natural without being informed.

House Closing

September 5, 2006 we became the proud owners of three properties and three mortgages. Yes, we closed on our house in Nyack. This is the place where we will spend the next 20 years. I haven't seen my house really. I glanced at it twice but never really looked at it. Paulo really wanted it and I want Paulo to be happy.

Cutie face is doing well at school. She waves goodbye in the morning. She eats their prepared lunch. When we pick her up she is deep in thought playing games like bingo. It's a good idea to teach them to gamble when they are young. If we are really lucky, perhaps we can sell our apartment this week at the open house on Sunday. Wish us luck.
